Description
Thank you for looking. This is a sheath knife with a design that seems common in Northern Europe, featuring a logo that appears to be Russian, though I'm not entirely sure. The blade material is unknown, but when I sharpened it to 38 degrees (19 degrees per side) using the Swedish-made sharpening machine TORMEK T-8, the material responded well to the whetstone, producing a clear burr and resulting in a very sharp edge. Chrome content was detected, confirming it is stainless steel. The sheath is made of nylon and uses a snap button at the opening to narrow the entrance and prevent the handle from slipping out. As indicated by the weight measurement in the image, the tang that runs through the handle is of the concealed type, making it surprisingly light. The blade's edge line has a gently but significantly curved shape, and the handle, made from a combination of different woods, is water-friendly. I suspect this knife is intended for use as a fishing knife. If so, the sheath material also makes sense. I acquired this one to try it out, and while the steel is responsive, it takes a very sharp edge, and it should contain at least 0.5% carbon. It's good enough that I'm considering acquiring a few more. Overall, it's a knife with a high score. It seems well-suited for use as a table knife or carving knife, for slicing and portioning meat from a whole roast at the table, or for effortlessly slicing into baguettes, bread, and cheese. This knife has a subdued, mature aesthetic, stripped of flashiness. Why not welcome this piece into your outdoor adventures or as a companion at your dining table?
